Destron Universal Portable ReaderProduct Number: FS2001
The FS2001 F-ISO is a versatile stationary, portable and
hand-held device that reads radio frequency identification (RFID) tags that
are in conformance with ISO-11784 and ISO-11785 standards for A, B, and HDX
tags. The configuration consists of transceiver electronics, an antenna
connected with a cable and a battery charger. It has been specifically
designed for tracking livestock, fish, large/small domesticated animals and
wild animals, so it is extremely versatile. It is easily connected to a
computer for control, monitoring an installation and logging RFID tag numbers.
As a stationary transceiver system, the unit
consists of an electronic receiver unit, tuning box, user definable antennas
and a battery charger and/or power supply. Both systems include an RS232 and
external DC power cable (if needed).
One of its exclusive features is the ability to be
adapted to several types of operations and applications. It can be tailored to
the customer's exact needs using the configuration setup menu operated from
the front panel keyboard display.
Instead of changing individual option settings when
using the reader for a specific type of application, the user can define up to
three different sets of "Profiles" for parameter settings and recall a
specific set at the time of use. Each of the three profiles includes several
options that define the operation of the reader such as store control, use of
the COM port, file management etc.
The profiles are stored in backup, battery
protected RAM memory to protect the settings during a power outage.
Each
profile includes the following:
TAG TYPE: Allows the user to select one, two
or three of the technologies desired for the application (A, B, HDX). Reader
speed and read range can be increased by specifying only the technologies
needed for the user's application.
ANTENNA POWER: Adjustable from 10% to
100% of the nominal value.
STORE MODE: (Selections are OFF, ALL,
and SEARCH). ALL selection stores all of the ID's found in the
selected Current file. This option prevents the multiple storage of the
same Tag ID in the file. If enabled, the messages on the COM port are
sent according to the SEARCH setting.
CONTINUOUS MODE: The selection keeps
scanning until a valid Tag ID is found, which is the normal operating
mode for "hands-free" operation.
TOGGLE MODE: This function is normally used
during hand-held operations. Pushing the READ BUTTON momentarily
will begin the scanning process until a valid tag is read; then the reader is
placed in standby mode until the READ BUTTON is pushed again.
UNIQUE MODE selection defines the reaction
of the reader when the same tag is detected several times. The Tag ID
will only be enunciated if it is different from the previous Tag ID
detected.
INTERNAL "REAL-TIME" CLOCK
enables the reader to time and date stamp all tags and can also
be set via the RS232 port by the user.
COM SPEED
Tag ID's can be sent via the COM port
at baud rates of 2,400, 9,600, 19,200 or 57,600 and displayed in HEX or
DECIMAL (with or without a decimal point).
SCANNING FOR TAGS
The tag scanning process can be started and
stopped in different ways.
Manually using the READ key or
Remotely using the serial port
commands or
Automatically by the reader (defined
by the configuration setup).
SELF-TESTING AND DIAGNOSTICS
The reader has integrated self-tests
used to verify the integrity of the hardware. Two types of tests are performed
on the unit. First, there are power-up diagnostics performed each time
the unit is turned on and second, it performs periodic self-tests again while
in use. The reader can send an alarm to the display and COM port if any
failures are detected.
USE: The Destron® Fearing®
FS 2001 F-ISO Reader is used with the Destron Handheld Antenna, the Destron EXT Stick Antenna, the Destron Headgate Neck-Extender Antenna, the Destron Portable Cattle
Walk-Through Antenna and the Destron 2 x 4 Panel Antenna. When purchasing the FS2001 for use with either the Destron Neck Extender Antenna, the Destron Portable Cattle Walk-Through Antenna or the Destron 2 x 4 Panel Antenna, you MUST order either the Auto-Tune feature or the External Tuning Box for the unit to operate properly. The Auto-Tune feature cannot be combined with the battery-integrated FS2001 at this time.

Destron Racket Antenna
Product Number: AN4600
The Destron Racket Antenna is a rugged water and shock proof handheld racket antenna for use with an FS2001 reader. This antenna is ideal for portable field applications or areas where an automated system is not possible. When used with an FS2001-ISO reader the antenna will read all ISO approved RFID tags. In a portable application the antenna reader configuration will read continuously for 6 hours at full antenna power. The antenna power is adjustable with menu options on the FS2001 reader for application specific tuning or to provide extended battery life. The user may control the antenna on or off mode with a switch mounted directly on the antenna.
